The Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation is governed by a group of dedicated volunteers whose purpose is to raise funds for the priority medical equipment needs of our community hospital. The Board of Directors consists of up to 13 directors who each serve a 3-year term.
Our directors bring to the Board a variety of backgrounds offering their unique skills and talents to ensure the Foundation’s success.
The Foundation Board is a working Board elected by its members. Directors and members serve on various committees such as the Events Committee, Community Relations Committee, Governance Committee, or the Finance Committee.
All directors and members contribute their time and effort without any payment or benefit other than the satisfaction of contributing to the community.

Give the Gift of Heart Health
Timely access to heart testing can make a lifesaving difference for patients in our community. This year, donations to our annual Breath of Spring campaign will help fund the replacement and upgrade of the cardiac stress testing equipment at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
Cardiac stress testing helps detect coronary artery disease before it leads to a serious cardiac event. By monitoring how the heart performs during physical exertion, clinicians can identify warning signs and begin treatment sooner.
The hospital’s current treadmill and monitoring system is more than ten years old and increasingly prone to breakdowns. When equipment fails, patients who may have already waited months for testing face further delays. With long waitlists across the region, travelling elsewhere for care is often not an option.
Your support will help provide reliable equipment, reduce delays, and ensure cardiac patients in our community receive lifesaving cardiac care right here in Nelson.
Any funds raised in excess of our goal will be directed to the purchase of other priority medical equipment for Kootenay Lake Hospital.
